The Wood-Ridge Fire Department has been providing fire and rescue services to the Borough of Wood-Ridge and surrounding communities since 1897. Approximately 40 volunteers provide this service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from Fire Headquarters located at 85 Humboldt Street.

The department is a member of the South Bergen Fire Chiefs Mutual Aid Association which helps to coordinate multi-department responses to large scale incidents.

The department is lead by the Chief of Department Anthony Gentile with the assistance of First Assistant Chief Thomas Burniston and Second Assistant Chief Paul Clemente.

The department utilizes 3 Engines, 1 Ladder Truck, 1 Heavy Rescue Unit, 2 Ambulances, and 3 Command vehicles. Pictures and descriptions of the apparatus can be found in our gallery. Members of the department are professionally trained in various topics including Fire Suppression, Incident Command, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Medical Technician and EMS First Responder.

The WRFD utilizes the following radio frequencies:

F1 - 154.160 Dispatch

F2 - 154.205 Fireground (repeater)

F3 - 154.205 Fireground (simplex)

F4 - 154.280 Countywide

The Borough of Wood-Ridge, New Jersey is located in the southern part of Bergen County, approximately 1.5 miles from the Meadowlands Sports Complex and 11 miles from New York City.  Wood-Ridge is approximately one square mile and has about 7500 residents.
